You can go to Ubuntu forum if you have problem with your Ubuntu. I don't know why, but Ubuntu increase my internet speed.

Try using Suse Linux. from my experience with many distros i would say that it is one of the most user friendly linux system available.

I have tried a few: redhat, suse, mandrake, gentoo... (these are the ones I remember) But the one I use now is debian, I had some trouble installing and configuring it, but now it's running very smoothly without any problems and I have no trouble updating and installing new packages...
