how do i get rid of cockroaches?!?!?!?

my brother and I are looking into an apartment but it seems that there were residents already there, some unwanted roaches...any ideas on how to get rid of them? i heard that it is not a one time process and boric acid is very effective...any other ideas? greatly appreciated

The best thing to do is hire a pest control company and take out their maintenance policy. Usually it is not expensive and the company will come every 3 months to spray for cockroaches, spiders and any other creepy crawlies you might have. It is the most effective way to keep them gone. Many home remedies might help for a week or so but then you are back where you started...especially if you live in the south. In the south, cockroaches are prevalent and even extreme cleanliness of your home/apartment doesn't prevent cockroaches.
