I cant stand when people drive and talk on their cell pjone or even when i am out to eat it is so rude to be yaking on your phone s loud as you canso the people on the other side can hear you. Do you drive and talk on your phone have you had a bad exsperience with someone who does or has? why dont they wait till they get home or to their destinaton to call or at least pull of to the side if it is that inportant is someones life worth that one call.

AMEN! I asked my other half to put a brush guard on my Blazer so the next time I was behind a person talking and not driving I could run them to the curb. I think if we all did this most would pull over when using a cell phone!!;l p.s. I love your avitar. I have the same pic and others by Vallejo!!

I hate it whe someone uses any kind of phone device while driving. It is a proven fact that the person does not put all their concentration into driving therefore they are a danger to other. My only wish is that the other forty nine states would follow NY example and outlaw using cell phones while driving and hopefully hands free phones, too.

I just had a teller at a store here answer her cell phone while ringing me up. I thought it was very rude. I'm tempted to send an anynomous letter to the store about it....I don't want to get her in trouble before the holidays. But its ignorant to talk on the phone while you're waiting on a customer!

uh i hate when they do that or they are on it and you are ready to check out and they tell you to hold on while they talk about things that dont matter such as their dog is sick or something like that man that makes me mad.

If you think those people talking loudly on the cellphone is noisy & irritating, you probably have not encountered those who 'shares' the music they are listening to with everyone in the subway!!! They turn the volume so loud that you can even hear them 2 carriages away!!!! Then there is also another breed of irritating buggers who likes to keep themselves entertained while in the subway but playing through all the different types of ringtones they have in their cellphone!!

You'll get a $90.00 fine if you get caught in NY State driving while on the cell phone, and the fine doubles if you're caught again. By me they actually do ticket people regularly. I agree with you about people talking on the phones in restaurants or in lines at stores. Or how about someone standing in the middle of the aisle at the grocery store yakking away! Can you even imagine how unbearable a plane flight would be if they allowed cell phones? I love my cell phone and use it a lot, but I obey the laws about driving, and I am conscious to be considerate of others when talking on the phone.

I think that is a good law. I wish we had that here. i understand if it is a emergancy or something like that but people nees to respect others. I am glad it is not allowed on the plane they dont allow that because it interfers with signals and if they did i would have to hurt someone LOL.

well seems like its the natual human tendency of being curious, wanting to answer that incessant ringing. In Bangalore, people are fined first time , double fine the next time they are caught.

driving and talking on cell phones - driving and talking on cell phones
no i do not agree i have a phone when i drive i do not talk on it. I only use it for if a crash or something like that. I do not answer my phone when i drive what you do is put it of to the side on silent and wait till you get to where you have to go.

In India, particularly in Bangalore, the Police Department has over 100,000 mobiles phones seized from the people who were using it while driving. They refuse the pay the penalty and hence the seizure. But the enforcement is not strictly done. It is not only people who drive the vehicles use the mobile, it is also those who walk on the road (instead of footpath) and those who cross the road elsewhere other than zebra crossing are to be booked. When they cross the road, they get engrossed so much in talk they do not look at the vehicles passing in front or back of them. Many accidents do happen. People are using mobile phones with total disregard to the public traffic. I have written a letter to editor of newspaper and many readers have agreed, but the police have no time to catch these culprits and enforce the law. It is really pity.

I'm one of those people that drives great while on the phone.. and to answer your questoin of why people do it. Ever think that maybe theyre trying to get directions somewhere?
• United States
11 Dec 06
well there is something called mapquest and you could pull of the road to a safe place to get directions that way you can even right them dow, and no one is a great driver while talking you may not know you are all over the road while talking most of them dont.

but people dont use handless things this is my point if you have not read anything anybody has said. handless still distracts the driver and you still have crashes. i dont think that one call is worth your life pull off to the side if it is that important. why dont you go and read other comments

I never answer my phone while I am driving unless there is a safe place to park. If I hadn't got a phone them people would have to wait until I return home. What annoys me also, when people with whom I am speaking, answer the phone in the middle of a conversation. I think it is very rude to interrupt our conversation to speak to somebody else.

I also do not answer the phone it is unsafe. and i feel the same about interrupting it is so rude.

imagine if you were waiting for an urgent call and you got the call when you were driving.well i dont think you would cut that call and continue.even you would continue to talk.
• United States
11 Dec 06
ya but most of the time it isnt an urgent call did you not read other things i have said to others i said if it is a emergancy that is diffrent but you still can pull of the road even for that.

People are able to have conversations with other people in a car without causing adverse driving conditions. So, I think it should be mandatory that if you would like to talk on your phone while driving, you must use a hands free set. People seen driving while holding their phone should definitely get a ticket. I am so sick of driving around people that I think are sick, drunk, or too old to drive just to find out they were on the phone. Personally, I tell people that I am driving and will call them back when I arrive at my destination. Everyone understands and it's never questioned.

exactly... hands free But I also have found that even hands free you tend to loose concentration. Most people who talk to another in a car, the conversation is somewhat different. Not sure how to explain it but you seem to pay attention better.

just a couple days ago my roommate and i were driving on the highway here in Calif. we were passed by a woman driving a small car. as she passed i was shocked to see that she was talking on a cell phone held in her right hand and in the hand holding the steering wheel, she was holding a take out tray of food and eating at the same time. she was going from side to side in the lane she was driving in...an accident waiting to happen!!!!! WHY DO PEOPLE DO SUCH STUPID THINGS?????
