If someone has limited free time in a day. What you think he/she should spend that time in doing light exercise or its better to go for jodging or hiking to remain FIT and ACTIVE.?

Jogging is quite dangerous, walking is a good choice, but when you are fit, you need quite a long walk to get good results. Light exercise would probably be the best choice for you, but swimming is probably better if you can manage it.

If I were you, I would combine things. Lift weights or do streching/muscle exercises during the week, then hike during the weekend when you have more time. These activities will keep you in very good shape, they complement each other. Since you cannot lift weight everyday, you can either rest the next day, or walk a bit - this is sort of what I do.. I lift weights 3 times a week, go for long slow walks twice (10-20km) at night. In addition, I either take a very long or very hard hike during the weekend, or if it isn't possible for some reason, I try to beat my walking speed record 11 km/h last time I measured. Walking at this sort of speed needs a very good warm-up and some rest later during the day.. so I don't do it a lot.

In my opinion, hiking is the best way to go. But if we have limited free time in a day, say 1 hour or 2 hours, Jodging is the fastest way to remain fit. During the weekend, I would recommend to spend like haly a day to hike on a nearby mountain. Having a great view of the surrondings and smell fresh air are unbeatable.

wao .. same is mine.. I love to hike in nearby margalla hills just 10 min from my home at Islamabad. These days im in korea for studies and even here i have lot of hiking tracks just beside university:). But few doctors are of point of view that one should avoid hiking as it may damage joints in long run rather they advice long walk. thats why i asked yours point of view . but so far i really enjoy hiking and the look of my city with a bird eye :).. THX

They say that the best form of exercise is swimming. It provides the needed exertion without the strain on your joints.

Yes i heard same. Infact probably because when you are under water you are in state of hydrostatic pressure that is you are experiencing same pressure through out your body. It make you feel good and comfortable while involving all of your body joints to exert meanwhile. So its recommended. But many people might not avail this facility on regular basis. Thats why i was comparing normal exercise versus jodging/walk. THX alot for yours response
