I just thought I should warn you and all the other shoppers this holiday season about a horrible experience I have encountered with the Royal Patrician Jewelers of 324 W. Cleveland Road in Granger Indiana.
On approximately the 16th of November my husband and I took in a ring to get it resized from a 10 to a 9 ½. When the jeweler first looked at the ring he said that it could be done as part of their 1 hour sizing. That is this company’s “claim to fame” My husband and I were thrilled to hear we would have it back so soon, especially since we were headed back to Iraq in 4 days.
We left the store and went out shopping with the children. About an hour or two later we received a phone call, which my husband answered… to which the gentleman at the store told him that he had already cut the ring but upon sizing it down the stones became loose. (There are 5 small diamonds in this ring. It is my husband’s wedding ring) and that it would have to be “sent out” to resize. My husband explained calmly again that we were headed out to Iraq and would prefer that the ring be finished before we leave. The gentleman stated it would be no problem to ship as long as the shipping was paid for. With no other choice my husband agreed.
When my husband hung up the phone I asked him what is wrong with his ring and upon hearing the conversation I asked him “How does a professional jeweler not know that when you change the circumference of a ring that the stones become loose and have to be tightened? Any woman who has ever had a ring resized knows this!”
My husband went to go pay the gentleman at the store and then returned and gave me the receipt. I could not believe that the man at the Royal Patrician Jewelers charged $160.00 for one resizing!
It is now the 9th of December and we still do not have the ring. I called two days ago and the gentleman at the store told me it was “just finished” I calmly asked him “May I ask what took so long? We dropped it off a couple of weeks ago?” to which he replied “it just did and I will ship it Monday or Tuesday maybe” I was shocked to hear how rude and unapologetic he was.
I am not trying to slander this company I just feel that it is important for people to know what kind of service they should expect from this particular company. And I would also like my husband’s ring to be returned to us. I feel that we were taken advantage of because of the time constraint we were under in having to return to Iraq and because my husband does not know much about jewelry. Please don’t fall victim to this company’s lack of concern for its customers.
Please pass this on to all your friends...
