A water meter (all) are designed to pass a certain amount of water at a certain pressure(P^d)-pressure drop across the valve or meter. The longer the pipe work is from the meter the greater the resistance and the less flow you have. To answer the question you asked with few words as a few have,in a friendly way, said boy I rattle on . A 3/4 is only better than a 1/2 if it is going to give you more flow at the end of run. If your pipe work two and from the meter does not have the capablity to allow more flow or only very slightly (most probably the case) No it wont. If you know the Cv or Kvs of the meter, these are the amount of water in US(Cv) gallon or Metric Liters. There are a couple of formulas relating to cubic feet and cubic metres of water. When you take a pressure reading with full flow into vavle and out of valve that is the pressure drop. Then on a graph, formula, slide rule type caculator, you then know what it is doing(at the meter) This only a real basic example, as now the pipe work has flow resistance as well at each valve at the end. Quickly a ball valve Lets say 15mm they are normally "full bore" the orface is usually 15mm while a globe valve or gate valve is restricted firstly by just its design style however with these small valves they have two to 6 different Kvs flow rates so plumbing can be desgined with ample flow, no water hammer, low to no velocity noise. have a good day eric

I would say depends on where the water is going. If I had a main going to the a faucet he 3/4 might be to much pressure for it..but then again might need it for the pressure. I think there might be a guide line on the size of the main you use.
