Why is the hairy monster so attractive?

Depending on the hairy monster you are thinking of, in my opinion like in Van Helsing. The brother who unwillingly becomes a werewolf is a fine creature. He gets lots of dips in water in that movie. We like the Lycans in Underworld because they were so masculine and exuded power. So there are a couple of examples why someone would like the hairy monster so much.
