make sure ur gif image is really animated ;) and secondly the image should be small size small with and height. i see ur avatar isnt moving o u still didnt solve problem. i will tell u what u are doing wrong if u famiirize me with steps u made to upload the avatar.

As of right now I can't even get a still picture to upload. Do I have to check the properties or something? :I

Here's what I'm doing...
1) edit preferences
2) browse for new avitar
3) open
4) update
5) nothing's happening

How do I make it an animated gif? Is it set up that way when I recieve it? I tried it again and only got a still picture.

most of the animated avitats come ready made.that is you generally do not have to anything much bhut just copy and put the link after you go to your profile.
but not all the sites allow you to put on an animated avatar for security reasons.
i do not think that we can do so here at mylot.i am yet to see anyone with an animated avatar.so it may be against mylot rules.take care adn hjave a nice day!
