Earthquakes, especially above 6 points on the Richter scale, can be very frightening. I experienced my first one (6.8) in Mexico City in the 1950's. It scared the bejeezus outta me. I had arrived only a couple of months previous and was still staying in a hotel before finding an apt. I was awake at 2:30am as I had just returned from a party.....but hadn't been drinking unfortunately. I heard a strange grumbling noise just before the building started shaking... Fortunately I was on the ground floor of a three«story building. I have to admit it was terrifying. However, I have been a few since then on a much lower scale and it doesn't bother me as much....I guess I got used to it.

So sorry to hear about the earthquake. Are you alright? I hope so. I wouldn't know what to do if the earth below my feet moved, I'd freak out. I'm glad I live where we don't have to deal with such things. hugs to you
