Who has been to London?

I visited the UK back in 2003, to visit my fiance. We visited London and did all the sightseeing things. I was amazed by how the streets of London were so dirty. Trash everywhere. We stayed at the Regency Palace Hotel and I have to say, for a 4 star hotel, that was the dirtiest hotel I'd ever seen. The carpet had huge stains on them. Our room had this tiny bed, that was extremely uncomfortable and lumpy. The bathroom looked like it was actually "set in the room off an airplane", it was THAT small. Our "view" from the window was a brick wall of another part of the hotel and trash blowing everywhere. Very disgusting. We couldn't get the window to raise more than an inch and it was very warm in our room. We could hear people running up and down the halls all night, so needless to say we didnt sleep much. I did, however, enjoy seeing Buckingham Palace and some of the other well known sights. The Tower of London was amazing, that was my favorite visit. I was curious as to how others thought of London and what their experiences were.
