Nikon VS Canon

I’m going to be upgrading my camera to a bottom of the range DSLR. I have my eye on the Canon EOS 350D but I don’t know much about its Nikon counterpart. I know the debate is old which is why I won’t post this discussion on a stock site but tell me honestly, which do you prefer Nikon or Canon? What are the pros and cons of each and what are my options?

I've been researching a bit on Nikon and Canon DSLRs for quite some time now. The Nikon counter part of the 350d would probably be either the nikon d50 or newer nikon d40.
For the most part they are about the same in image quality. But for me I'd choose Nikon over Canon because I prefer Nikon's color reproduction better than Canon.
I think the best thing to do is go to a store pick up the camera's and see how they feel in your hands, and choose the one that feels like it has a better grip and feels more solid to you. Both Nikon and Canon make good cameras, it just comes down to preference really.

I think i'm going to get the Canon 400D but first I need to sell my Fuji! Hope you have fun with your new camera. Do you do any stock photography?

Did you figure out which camera you're going to buy? I just ordered my self a Nikon D50 yesterday! I'm so excited!

Well there is nothing much to choose from the two. Canon or Nikon is a choice of some features, cost and personal preference. Like the cost of the camera could be less but the cost of lense could make the difference. But taking the current cost I would certainly go for the Canon 400D.

I prefer the Nikon range, I hear the New Nikon D80 is really good with all the latest professional technology built into a SLR. My advice is also to try out a few camara's before you purchase. Go out to you local stores, handle the camera, take pictures etc. Make sure it addresses your needs.
