For me the album had a lot of hightlights but still i sometimes forget that this is NIN since it strays away from the original sound. I felt Trent Reznor was looking for a more mainstream sound here. What do u think?

I personally liked the album, however it was not my favorite. I think that it is very obviously NIN but the sound is def. much different than anything Trent has ever put out. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that this is his 'first' sober album and the things that he has feelings and opinions on are obviously more optomistic than things in the past....
But my favorite stuff was by ANGRY Trent, lol.
I don't think Trent was INTENTIONALLY looking for something mainstream, I think he honestly believed this album would provide a smooth transition for sounds like this in the future, but realized how much the fans were disappointed with it and got a grip... lol.
His newer album is supposed to be a lot more 'noisey' and all of that, but he is not talking about it because I think he learned his lesson from WT. By talking about it being all hardcore and everything, I think he really let people down and somewhat regrets speaking about it... but we will see.
