Phones should be built into the car by law so that both of your hands should only be used to control the potentialy leathal machine and not your right hand disabled with a phone in it! Or am I being too drastic?

I disagree with you somewhat. I agree mobile phones in cars should be banned, as these people cannot be concentrating on their driving and are putting others at serious risk. To my mind, this is worse than drink-driving, or at least on a par with it. As for building hands-free phones into cars, I disagree with this, in that the person using it is still not mentally concentrating on their driving, even though their hands are free. I say phones in cars should be banned totally. Ok, carry a mobile, turned off, in case you run into difficulties on the motorway, but that's all. Anything else is very, very dangerous.

Yes, I would imagine it could. But then, do you play your radio just for background music and ignore those discussion programmes, or do you listen intently?

Sorry... I'm not getting at you. I just feel that most people just play background music to keep them awake, or alert whilst driving long distances?

Surely listening to the radio and being engrossed in a coversation between the radio host and a call in listener could put your concentration off?

i agree with you completely, not even built in phones they need to be speaker phones only cos then they do not have to hold a phone to their ear.xx

Nice put! having the phone to your ear may miss you hearing an emergency vehicle near you.

it would mean that they could keep their eyes on the road instead of worrying if they are going to drop their phone.x

I couldn't agree with you more. I don't have a problem with the hands free type phone. To me that is the same as talking with someone in the car with you. However when they have one hand on the phone, the other hand on a drink, eating or even putting on make-up and they have to drive with their knee something is wrong. Let alone if the phone is in the glove box or the purse and they have to dig for it when it rings or they suddenly decide to make a call. I do know some areas have banned the use of cell phones while you are driving. I wish more would. To me it is just not safe. If it's that important that you have to talk with them pull over and talk or spend the money in buying a hands free one.

Here in Chgo it's against the law to talk on the phone and drive, your suppose to use a hands free device, but lot good it does the police never pull anyone over to inforce the law. Your right it is lethal when their talking and driving because 80% of them are not paying attention to the road.

Yeah Its qiute dangerous to drive a car with a disabled hand. As you said either the mobile phone should be fitted in the car or else should use the hands fee equipments."Technology should not overtake human brain" as this would causes drastic effects.
