I live in a place right now where my internet connection won't let me use peer to peer programs and it really makes me mad!
I will never pay for a song again. I know that sounds bad/selfish/whatever but it's how I feel. I love going to concerts and I pay for those of course.
I feel that music is like a painting. It should be free to look at and enjoy.

This all depends I usually listen to online radio at live365 and If I hear a song that I like then I'll download it but if I like the artist and I am working then I'll buy there CD.
The price of CD's has went down in the last year or so because of the P2P networks, the industry suffered a loss of billions because of the amount of people that download music from the internet.
I still like to support the artists, eveyone needs to make money and if they dont make money then we will no longer have good music to listen to.

Isn't it true that the artists themselves actually don't make much money on each CD that is sold? Rather, that money mostly goes to the label and "big whigs."
I'm pretty sure that most artists make their money by touring. I could be wrong though...
What do you think?

It's about the same price as an entire album actually.
The average album has 10-12 tracks I would guess... if you buy all those songs from an album that's 10-12 dollars!

It's not right to download music from the net without paying. I don't download the music I like, but I buy cd's from the shops. If music would be free, musicians would not earn money, so they can't continue to play their music. It's a job like every other.

Yes, I do. I use lime wire but it is free. I know its suppossed to be illegal but I just use it to listen to music like I would a radio. In my day, people use to record songs off the radio with cassette tapes and no one blew a fit like they do now.

I'm surprised you both have agreed with me so far! I was willing to bet that most are fearful to download anymore.

I get around half of my music for free from limewire. If I want to get a whole album then i would buy it, noramally a hard copy from a shop but ocassionaly i cant be botherd to do that so I just download albums from itunes. If It is just one or two songs and i know i dont want the album then I download them from limewire. I know it shouldnt really be up to me but if i have no respect for the band then I sometimes do dowload the whole album...because i might like their music, but not want them to get paid for it for some reason or another!!

well that's too sad for you. Luckily my internet connection here allows me to do that. I don't have to pay anything for downloading music. Nevertheless, I do pay monthly for having a fast internet connection speed. It does help a lot to have a good connection and a fast one too especially for video music.
