News Feed of Facebook

Is that News Feed really necessary or is it intruding into the personal lives of people.

How is the newsfeed an intrusion? It's only showing information that is already there....and it's only showing YOUR information to YOUR friends...which I guess is why anyone signed up for facebook in the first place.

but it also shows how others are interacting with their friends. It was objected by my university. We will know what others are doing. Isnt that intrusion??
