What signifies a 'hot topic'? Because sometimes the topics there are just new or have only a few responses and don't even seem to make that much sense.
Usually they are the popular ones about real topics, but half the time I have no idea why they would be classified a hot topic.
And actually while I'm on the subject...I've noticed before that the days top user has been a new person, with a rating of about 9 and no discussions started, so how can they be the top user?
And that's all for today lol

I am not too sure how a discussion gets into the "hot topic" category but believe it would have something to do with the amount of time between posting the discussion and when the responses come in. Maybe it has something to do with the tags but it is anyone's guess, unless of course myLot can enlighten us in some way.
Today's top users has something to do not only with the responses they make, but also the responses they receive to discussions started by them. The other thing is the time difference might have something to do with it, i.e. in Australia we are about 18 hours ahead of myLot time.

LOL very good questions...as i've been wondering about it too. i would understand if those with more than 50 responses to be at the hot topic...but no...i can see the discussions under 'hot topic' with responses of more than 10...kinda peculiar!!

i am not sure. but i think you will have your topic on the list of hot ones if it is a new topic to talk about and that there are lots responding to it.

I think we all have wondered this. Somehow it might have to do with the amount of Responses we are getting to a discussion in a day? I know one I started back a couple of hrs. ago has been on the top page, and top discussions but this does not always happen for me. I do have a lot of discussions though with little answers as well, so you never know what topics will hit it big with people, do you?

Even i cannot understand this.As my topics also got into hot topics list.First i thought, maybe more response to discussions will take posts to hot topics...but, here discussions with only 2 responses also apear in hot topics....hope some one answers withpositive answer here....

I have not the faintest idea on that one.
I know that I don't make the top discussions a lot.
Perhaps you could send a message to myLot, and ask them what the criteria is for it.
