Is is right to take a job away from your family for a year to make things financially more secure for the family. Say you are in debt and need to get out of it and you can't find a job locally and need to get the money. You get offered a great paying job that takes you away from home for a year. Is it ok to do this? It does leave a strain on the family at home. even a second job at home would not equal as much pay as going away.

If we can make our family financially secure ,then we wisely take the decision of staying away from our family for an year or so.

well, it all depends on you and the situation of your family. If you have small kids (babies) it will be difficult but on the other hand if u have somebody to help u with the baby (husband, mother, mother-in-law) I think then you can consider leaving for a year so that u can pay yr debts. I know it is difficult, but if you have to do it you have to sacrifice something in return!

this will have to depend on individual...if im in that situation, i will probably discuss with my partner about this..if he allows me to go and this is for a better future of the family, i will go and i will probably do the same thing if he have to go to another country for a new job.
