Hacking into email?

Do any of you break into a friend/spouse's/ex's email account? have you? Why? and how did you go about doing it? Have you broken into any of their other accounts on other websites like ofoto or amazon.com? why? and how guilty do you feel? And is this illegal? Just wondering because I know someone who is doing this...okay it is me....maybe.... :)
