to post a discussion or respond to a discussion with a passage that you just copy and pasted from another source even if you put the name of the source at the bottom. correct me if im wrong but i dont think this is right. this is a discussion website and people should post topics and responses that they have thought of themselves and not just copy and paste them.

"this is a discussion website and people should post topics and responses that they have thought of themselves and not just copy and paste them". I think your conclusion is wrong. Because we are getting information on a subjects from various sources. Sometime we will have to quote their discussions into our forum, then only the forum will have a healthy discussion. Otherwise we can keep on posting in our forum that "what do you eat for breakfast?, Do you drink coffee?, How old are you? Do you wear brazier while sleeping? etc. etc. etc.". My opinion is we should always post a informatics discussions so that the people who participate will get some additional information on the subject. Let us wait for the others opinion.

Copying and pasting is completely against the rules here, they need to start enforcing it though if they want people to stop, I hate seeing all the people that do it on here.

We must do our part to help our benefactors keep the site legit. Report all violations you see. It only takes a minute to fill out a report. I'm sure they do their best to follow up on reports and take action when it is neccassary.

Why do you not agree with her? Do you think it is right to steal someone elses hard work, and then pass it off as your own? Do you not know that if you engage in this activity you can get into serious trouble other than losing your myLot account. If the original author finds out you have stolen their writing, and have not paid them to use it, or at least attempted to point to them as the original author, you can be sued for copyright infringement.
Websites online, either hire writers or write the information on their sites themself, and it is there for reference not for stealing and calling your own. So, either quote it and give credit to the source and author where you found it, or try writing something original on your own.

If you are going to use the pasted topic or article as a supporting part of your discussion, then you may do so. But better elaborate and make clear your topic.

the straight answer would be a big "NO"..its not only against the guidelines but it also against morality..i know people want to earn money quickly but that should not be done in blatant ignorance of rules and ethics..to cut the story short honesty should never be replaced my pure greed..

I dont feel its wrong. As long as some information is shared there should be no issues regarding this.

I see a lot of such discussions on mylot. And its really frustrating. There are days when I cant think of a good decent discussion to post, but then i dont resort to plagiarizing content to up my earnings in mylot. Thats cheap!

my sentiment exactly! many people here just copy and paste topics from various websites just to increase their earnings! when they cant think of a response to a topic they just copy and paste passages. this should not be the case.

It is not wrong to base your discussion topic or response on something you read somewhere else, and to quote from that source as long as you include the original author and/or source and site you obtained the quoted information from. However, no one should just place a quote article they just copy and paste into a discussion or response, for the sake of using it as there discussion or response. In other words, you should respectfully elaborate of the quoted information, by giving your opinion or reasoning for basing your discussion or response around that snip of quoted article you did not write.
Unfortunately around here, you have too many people who are just going to other online sources, copying and pasting whole articles or pieces of articles into a discussion or response, without using any of their own words, and literally trying to pass this information off as their own. This is illegal and myLot can get in trouble for this and the person who does this can also get into trouble.
Sometimes people get inspiration to write something meaningful after reading a story or article somewhere else, or maybe they are writing about important information. It is okay to quote some other source into what you write, but you should never use someone elses writing and try to pass it off as your own. If you see anyone doing this on myLot, you should use the "!" and report them to myLot.
I wrote a similar discussion to this about the plagiarism that is going on here at myLot.

i did that before because i couldn't explain clearly what i want to say but i'm always including the site where i copied the text so i don't think it's an act of stealing ideas.

Yes you can but only if you use it as a reference not as a whole discussion.

I have found that sometimes the discussion or topic can warrant this but they add their own words along with it. They are not cheating but responding. Example, I responded to a question that asked for any poems I have written. One was too long to type out so I just went to the web site that has published it so I could copy and paste. However, I also included some of my own discussion to go along with it.

well this approach is not good but if someone asking the information and the another person get the information from another sites, collect it and post here........then it is ok......

I think it's okay to quote from another source, provided the source is named. To go beyond that, such as copying and pasting an entire article, would not be right, in my opinion.
