human life/animal life

I think animal life should be respected, just as human life should be. But I do not believe animals are equal to humans. I do not object to animal testing; many great advances in medicine have been made because of it. But I do believe the animals should be treated as humanely as possible in the process. I do not object to hunting for food; I do object to hunting for sport. I do not object to animals being raised for food; I object to the often brutal treatment they are given by the humans raising them. I often wonder about the animal rights activists, are they as concerned about their fellow man as they are about animals?
