Young Infant: dead by Microwave

I read on the news today (USA), that a mother microwaved her infant. Why would someone do that to their child. Some ssupecetd that it was to get back to the biyfriend/husbnad for cheatiing. Bt is that reason enough? Or could she be suffering from post-partum? Does anyone out there have an expereince or know of someone who suffers from post-partum. because it would be good to know more on that subject...
