I think mother India should be ashamed of her selfish childrens, we were no where in the worlds corporate map in 1947, now its 2006 and you can see that india and indians are making their marks all over the world. We are country with Atomic power, we have all the possible facilities that can be expected or imagined, we have richest people in this world. I accept that everyone cant be a rich person, coz its very much part of luck and internal abilities to reach those heights. Education in India is cheapest and best too. Only negative factor about india is that people are not changing, they are stuk to their habits and ego. Whenever something new service is brought here, then people are the first to spoil those services. Corruption, unemployment, electricity, water, roads..these problems are so common around the world. Even super power America is facing such problems. I always see India as a best competitor to America, coz even though indians are mannersless somtimes, still they have the ability to show their colour at the right time. india is on the way to become a super power in next 25 years. Write this in your note book in bold letters

India - Inida
Who the hell is saying so? They don't deserve to comment My country. Those who comment so, must be the insane people and they have no brains. Show me a democractic country bigger than India. Show me a country where people live so peacefully and harmoniously. I love my country and very proud to say that I am an Indian. No other country has so much of diversities in them and still holds the unity.

Im from the Phillipines but I know a little of India's history. On my own opinion, there's nothing to be ashamed of your lineage because you got rich history with rich culture. You ought to be proud as an Indian instead of regreting. When you feel down because of your lineage think about Mohandas Gandhi, Buddha, Buddhism, Hinduism and etc. It will sure boost your self-esteem. Trust me. :)

I feel proud to be an Indian. I know there are some cursing but even then there are more and more things about india for which we have to feel proud. All the drawbacks as you told are in few places, but there are few place which is very very good. I am ashamed of our Politician who are leaders and representatives, but they are not doing there duty properly. many wants to go aboard but they wont get the same feeling as India, the culture, tradition, etc. I have lots and lots of reason to be proud of my country. Bangalore is called as garden city, very good climate, everything is verygood but traffic is heavy here. I dont think this as major problem . Population is increasing day by day in bangalore, so the traffic. If majority of them use public transport, its sure that traffic goes down. Being a IT city, many owns a car, and each one like to travel in his/her own car, so huge traffic. This is how problems are created, that means we are responsible for the problem and we are cursing india based on that problem!

hey!!! Just cause people complain about elec, unemployment, etc, doesnt mean they are ashamed of being Indians. What is wrong with critising your own country. An indian has every right to question the state of affairs. But, then that person should also have the zeal to also contribute to the development of the country.

I appreciate you Jotsna, this is time we should speak about our mistakes first than praising ourselves blindly. Before developing anything here let there be clean Toilets everywhere in INDIA. Public should attack the corrupt people.Like police, lawers, politicians, govt.officials instead of attacking innocents. Support everything which improves our economy.

well in my country we do the same thing but indian and african are the majority. When we have an african government the indians claim to victimise but they need to stop dumpin fridges in the river and building on lagoons to prevent flooding and houses with hight. When the indian government here the stole alot of money though so I think we need a chinese goventment or a change

hi pooja, nice question. i would say yyyess!! we have to be ashamed of being an indian coz we curse our motherland, and for all afore mentioned problems when we r in a need. and when we have no expectations from our country we tend to love it. one can introspect oneself.for instance, all NRIs seem to be good and real indians when they r abroad. but i dont think they can remain the same settling in india.

Hi it is good question to ask. I would certainly like to answer ur question_ Ans:- We are proud to be an Indian but India is ashamed of having such citizens who are the money maker and for money they are sending such info to the other country who is gonna to harm India nothing else. People who can't do anything they only comment like this what u say. India is a country that have the ability to do each and everything in world. Most of the scientiest in world from India, most of the projects are useless without India. Even the coulmbia yaan ahve an indian right now to handle a position which is very important for the crew members. so be proud to be an indian and try to tell such people waht is india.

An Indian boy in his 12th standard has disproved Einstein's "Theory of Relativity". Shocked? Read on... Sudarshan Reddy has theoretically proven the existence of a particle, which can travel at speed greater than that of light, thereby challenging one of the fundamental postulates of the "Theory of Relativity". In his recent research paper submitted to the Institute of Advanced Physics (IAP) at Trieste,(Italy), Sudarshan has proved the existence of a class of sub-atomic particles called "leptons", which can travel faster than light. The international physics community is shocked by this discovery. Dr.Massimo Martelli, President of the IAP has this to say about the paper submitted by Sudarshan. "After long, careful and critical analysis, I can confidently say that Sudarshan's research papers show tremendous leap in our understanding of physics. His investigation mounts up on "leptons". His work builds substantially on the work of Einstein and others in the field of relativity." When physicists from Princeton University tried to measure Sudarshan's IQ with an IQ-meter(at the American Embassy in Delhi),the meter broke down. Sudarshan, incidentally, is the brother of Madhu Reddy, the Indian whiz kid who developed an operating system superior to Microsoft Windows. We should all be very proud of these boys.

never be ashamed to be an indian.... Read the following story and be proud of being Indian Do you know that India is the richest country in the world! Right now, India is the richest country in the world! Wondering how? Its really amazing. Its due to Mr. G Vaidyaraj, who donated all his wealth, about which he actually did not know. He is a descendent of Raja Krishnadev Raya from Mysore district. For the last 300 years or so, three stones were worshiped in his house. But nobody tried to see what it was, except this person, who is a lawyer by profession. One day, when there was nobody in his house, he took the stone out to see what it was that they worship. Due to the dust deposited on it, from many many years, it looked onlylike a simple stone. But when he touched it, some portion of the stone was cleansed. And he saw a bright ray of light. He saw some thing which attracted his attention. And he was amazed when he cleaned all of them. The whole room was filled with light. He discovered they were diamonds of about 4600 carats each. He informed the Govt. of India and the news is censored with its security. Its now deposited in a Swiss Bank. The cost of single diamond exceeds the GDP of USA + UK. India can buy virtually 7 developing nations. Even World Bank does not have enough money to buy it. One diamond costs thrice the debt of World Bank over India. One such diamond can buy 10 Bill Gates to you. And the World Bank has proposed the Indian Govt. that it can pay India in Installment if it wishes to do so. India's GDP is 34.25 billion dollars. Bill Gates property is 95 billion dollars approximate so that is the way "nature changes". Mr.Vajpayee has refused to sell it. He said it will be sold or mortgaged for credit when we need it.Otherwise right now we have no problems. You can go through Times of india with a small column on it a week ago. Star TV presented a 115 min documentary on it about 15 days ago. The Hindu with its half page article in it. After that it was censored as classified.

Its great that you've presented these stats. But can U also provide how many of these come back to India and work for the development of our society and the poor people who really even dont know about what is development. Its okay that these people hvae worked well in other countries. But why are we so proud of having our population spread all over the world. Its doing nothing great for the betterment of poor and underdeveloped people in our own country. What do you say ?

hey a really nice discussion...one cannot costantly blame others for this...i mean yes there are people in power who can bring a change in our society...but they don't...they r the ones who r responsible for all wrong things happening...but r we not equally responsible..? just look into the matter seriously...we constantly curse our nation for everything..but ourselves never try for betterment...i m 21 now...n i asked my father once why do we always find old people n ofcourse many dishonest people as people in power...he sais because youth our nation believes in only making money...they wud never try politics....they r broght up in an atmosphere where people always hate politicians....' i thought its so very true....even i thought so...but after listening to wat my father said..i wud definitely enter politics..not after i get old...very soon...atleast i will try to pass the ias entrance...n try to do something...i think it wud be really revolutionary if youth of our nation..start taking control of our nation but wid honesty...i think i said a lot..i have to say many things..but i know most of us get bored by listening to such serious things...but yes wat the person who started this topic is absolutely correct...our nation is ashamed of us...more than we r ashamed of it...

It is difficult to decide who's fault it is that India is lagging behind in giving the basic facilites to its citizens. It could be an unstable or corrupt government or the population explotion. I would blame the government more... there is no such thing as being ashamed of Indian citizenship but to be pitied that they live under poor leadership.
