I've been hearing a lot lately about this Obama dude, and they all seem pretty high on him...What do you think? Will he run in '08? If so do you think he'll do any good?

I agree that he seems very smart & charismatic, but my biggest problem is that he hasn't been in the Senate for very long. Usually presidents like/need to get some high level political experience under their belt before they run for the highest office in the land. I also worry/doubt that people are ready for a black president in this country. I hope they prove me wrong though.

Statistically the lowest voter turnout is among the blacks. If we had a black person running I'm sure that would change for the following reason:
Unfortunately we still have a very prominent race problem. Blacks still feel left out and whites feel that blacks are unfairly getting more because if not they'd play the race card...
Blacks would probably turn out in enough numbers to elect him simply because they'd feel like they are improving their standing.

He seems to be very intelligent and level headed, but I'm not exactly sure what his position is on most things controversial. I would like to learn more about him, but my initial reaction is that he would be more objective and less political than Hilary Clinton.

I don't think he is experienced enough, only has 2 years of service in the Senate.
