I've seen people logged into orkut like for hours on end. Why do you think is orkut that addictive. What's so special about orkut?

The main addiction on orkut is because of the scraping facility available in it. Its almost like chatting in a messenger. The only difference is that those messages scrapped is viewable by public.

Scrapping, makes orkut a site of its own.
People are speaking to whole lot of people at the same time now.
The whole communication bit on the net has become more transparent.
May be, some of us are using the public viewabity to show off. Just some of us.

good things always tend to be addictive. one of the major reason is , that you are in contact with almost 99% of your friends and also get to know what they are doing...so if you wanna keep a watch over someone.....do orkutting!!!

Because of the less privacy involved, doesn't people tend to use something else for communication?
The contact thing is there. Yeah, true.

Hmm the usp of orkut is that it is not only a chatting website but a community website.
You can express what you like and dislike with the like minded people across the globe.
Orkut gives u an opportunity to act as protagonist.
Moreover the concept of scrapbook is intricating as well
The scrapbook can be seen by anyone so It makes u a bit more concern of the fact that u not use lewd language wid someone else.
In all its much more interactive that’s the reason I m addicted to it

Yes, you can get together and share a thought or two with likeminded people worldwide.
But isn't it true, that there're a lot of Hate communities coming up?

believe me its the best site till date, the best thing is i found so many old friends there that it was just unbelieveable for me, the friends with whom i had no contact fror 5 to 10 years were suddenly smiling in front of me on my screen, the best thing i can track each of them from a common platform and mutual friends can have a blast on this site

Yeah, I also got reconnected with old buddies from school, due to orkut.
And, you're absolutely right about it been a common platform.

Sure thing, orkutting is a hell lot of fun. People 'connect with' each other on orkut.
They get to be in touch with friends, and get to meet people who share interests with them as well.

Yeah, it's both worlds.
Don't know if orkut shares the same popularity as myspace.

I guess it was me first, mate. Showing Off on the profile can be another thing. He hee, happens a lot, right?
Atleast to some of the people here, it's novel. But, I'm wondering is it just a craze for a 'new thing'?
Some people are gotten into that like that, may be.
Scrap, is good. Don't you think they should keep privacy levels? Vazhiye povunna varokke vayichu nadakathille. LOL.

Yeah, I think that's one of the reason. People like to think that someone else actually know about what they are. They expand their identity.
It helps us to speak out.

Orkut is REALLY popular here in Brazil. And i dont know why ;D
I think i dont know anyone from my age that does not have an orkut profile. Even my parents have orkut.. It is like a complete catalogue from everybody, and a list of who knows who.. forums, discussions, photo albums. It is just one more relationship network, but it is the only one popular here, and you cant imagine how popular is it here.
