Faith vs. Spirituality

United States

In an age where organized religion has lost some of it’s face throughout the world in certain lights, and where mega churches are being established and popular, it’s easy to say that religion is being looked at from a different perspective by the younger generations. Although this is not the first time in history that this has happened, it can be implicated that organized religion may never be the same in the United States again. I was raised outside a church and have never really been indoctrinated with a formal education in religion, but my father was raised Catholic and my mother Christian. I have never found a need or want to so to either church, and my father and his family was very turned off by how the Catholic church handled the scandals that plagued many churches across the world not many years back. This lack of curiosity has recently spurred in me a need to formalize my own spiritual stance, having no where to look to except in my own heart. I can honestly say that I believe there is something out there that is beyond my understanding and that has a power greater then I can imagine. I don’t believe in good vs. evil, Heaven and Hell, but I do believe in the goodness of man. The personal will to be kind and to “do what you’d like done to you”. And to a religious man, I ask, is this not enough to receive your respect?

Very good thoughts. I do agree with you. In todays world, religion is not being taken as it should be. I should be a visual path to follow in order to worship the god and not the blind path to be followed according to the blind faith and rituals. The only motto of the life should be doing good things in life with honest thoughts and worshipping god and finally attaining salvation (Moksha).
