First, what's a PI? Next when you say materialistic, do you mean in "marry a man with money so you can take care of me" materialistic? or "I want you to marry a man who has the means to take care of you so your arent on the street starving in 6 months" materialistic? You dont say how long you two have known eachother, what period of time you have physically been together, days, weeks, months, for visits? or if you've never met and it's all online? And if you're questioning the aspects of your relationship with your boyfriend beyond what your mother wants you to do (and most mothers do this, so you're not in unknown territory) then perhaps you should be listening to the reason centers of your brain as to why questions need to be asked as opposed to its a done deal with no questions.
