God.

Before I ask the question, a few things 1) I am an atheist, and I respect the beliefs of other people. 2) It is, as far as I know, impossible to prove the inexistence of god (or the existence for atheists like me), so it is just a question asked without any intention to prove something, convert anyone. What would you do if, somehow (it doesn´t matter how now), it was proved that there is no god? Yes, no god at all. What would you do?

Great question. I wouldn't do anything different. Why? Because only when we die do we really truly find out the truth if GOD exists or not. I wouldn't trust any man, sciencetist or any intellectual to tell me whether or not GOD excists. I look at it this way. If what I believe turns out to be false, than when I die, I've lost nothing. If what a non-believer believes turns out to be false when he/she die, they've lost everything and gained eternity in HELL! Please continue to seek the truth. May I suggest a book from a ex self proclaimed atheist called, A Case for Christ.

Your welcome. Actually I've never heard of Pascal Wager before, but it wouldn't surprise me if someone else said something simular, because I think I must have heard that somewhere else myself, as I personally am not smart enough to come up with something so good.

Thanks for suggesting the book. You know that what you are saying is a variation of the Pascal Wager, don't you?

Yes, it is a variant of the pascal Wager, As soon as I find it I will post it here. Think you will like to read about it, hope you don't mind if I post some arguments against it. Thanks for your answer.

And how do you think that it could be proved?

You believe in logic. NOthing can prove you other than logic. Look at the earth. The earth is moving and the moon is moving. And how do Muhammad know its moving? Muhammad was born 1400 years ago. but how he know about it?its in the Quran. If he is just a person who married to 9 years old girl, he wont know about the earth, the first creation of the world, the mountain and a lot more. He know about it. How? He tell us in Quran. How? Is Muhammad a scientis? No! What you should know, the creator of the world told him.

I would think a lot of people would be lost. They put all their beliefs into a religion and to find out it wasn't true, I think I would be lost. But I also think some won't believe it and remain believers despite the facts.

It'd be real tough for the believers... I suspect deep depression that threatens life.... contrary to the disbelievers, whom I think would sense some kind of a *chance* maybe to convert and join the believers, and enjoy it afterlife in the care bears land, before it's too late! Reminded me of a similar thread: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/604096.aspx When it comes down to proofs, I think that evolutionists have a harder time to proove their beliefs than the believers.

An interesting question! I cannot imagine what kind of proof it could be but for the sake of discussion I will accept it is incontrovertible. At first I am a loss to know what to say. I think I would weep, for humanity, with God a little hope for the future without... For myself, I would continue with my life struggling some times succesfully sometimes unsuccessfully, those things I rendered unto God I would have to say where chance. When I listen to God I would have to think it was just a voice in my head, maybe it would be hard to believe that but if the proof were good enough I guess I would have to. I think it would be subject to depression, alone in a meaningless universe we face the void of our own existence and he who stares too long into the void finds it stares back at him all the best urban

If there was absolute scientific proof that there was no God. I would stop believing in religion.

You know, I really don't know. I certainly wouldn't argue the fact - scientific proof is scientific proof. I think I'd be a bit lost at first, since a large part of my life would suddenly be null and void. But I'd get over it - I know I have no proof of God's existence and I know my beliefs might not be right. It's just what I feel comfortable with and what helps me. If I was told God didn't exist and was shown proof, then I'd accept it and move on with my life.

This can never be proven because my existence alone proves that there is God. I would not even take for granted that it is proven so I won't waste my time thinking of what should I do. There are so many things that I should do now and I even lack time to do them so I won't waste the very precious time thinking for nonsense (to me).

god created people then people created god. as for me, if it was proven that there's no god, well i would do nothing. religious belief is something that cant be proven by facts.

Lets see this way, who move the earth and the whole thing is this world? is it automatically run on itself? If you have 2 type of car, 1 are manual and another 1 is auto? I want to ask you, is it the automatic car can move on itself without anyone move the gear? I bet you will say no. Someone must change the gear to make it move. So? Who move the world? Its about the truth, not about religion. When u find the truth, the religion is your way to see the truth. Fact is the truth, and the truth will always win.

I don't think I would do anything. I don't believe there will ever come a time when anyone can prove that God doesn't exist; so I am not too worried about it.
