Why is text messaging so popular?

primarily, it's because it's cheaper. secondly, you can just send inane greetings and forwarded text mssgs, graphics and funnies.

i think its quick....nd cheap...carries the msg same way as u talk!....a good alternative!

I do it mailnly to my friend who lives in other countries, just because it is an easy and cheap way to communicating with them. i also love reciving sms - always exciting to see who it is!

Good question. Wouldn't it be easier to call that person? I mean, they're going to answer with a text message right back? I suppose if you don't want someone to see you talk on the phone it would be useful?
