World of warcraft being overpriced?

I've recently bought World of warcraft for PC and when I subscribed I found that it was being charged for around 15$ a month! Do you think that is over priced for what it is? Or do you think its good value?

In india everything is free.If u have the right contacts you can get anything and everthing illegal. So i dont worry about the price of anything. When maya was released here it had a price tag of 14 lakhs.Thats 1.4 million ruppes. But everyone has it and that too for free

I don't believe highly in MMORPG monthly subscriptions. If you're paying $15 a month, that's $180 a year, and to me, that's one heck of an expensive game. Sure it's got entertainment value, but so does a ton of offline games, and even some MMORPG games that you only pay a one-off fee for, such as Guild Wars. That one had me hooked for months. Some people don't mind the $15 because they don't question where that money goes. Sure, it may just be "only $15 a month", but thats just for you, one user. WoW brags about their multi-million user community. Say "multi-million" means 5 million. 5 million times $15 a month times 12 for a year = $900,000,000. Where the Hell does $900 million go in a year!? That's what I've been asking myself lately. But that's the bigger picture, and some people don't like seeing that, so I won't go further into it. Personally, I think MMORPG with subscriptions are a waste of money. A truly good game doesn't need subscriptions, because they're confident that the users don't think to themselves "Well I might as well play it because I've already paid for this month". That's my view, thanks for the discussion.

If people are willing to pay that much to play a game then I think the makers are very very smart to charge that high.

I've never been a big fan of mmorpg's and in general I think they are a waste of money. There are tons of great games that you can play online and only pay once. P.S. Nice Wrestlemania pic...are you going this year?

I've been playing for a little over a year now and it does add up, especially coz I'm in Australia and have to pay in $US so $14.95 US per month really costs me About $20 AUD. Getting a touch pricey.. I could go to a movie and get a choc top for that !!!!

All the prices I quote are in SIngapore dollars. Well from a gamer's point of view, it is highly possible to complete one game a month, or even two games a month. Buying two games every month would come up to about say 100 dollars each month. But with World of Warcraft, new interesting content and the social netowrk involved keeps me satisfied month after month, and all this for 25 dollars each month, so I'd say its worthit.

Well, I am 100% against this game so my opinion probally won't be much value to you. However, my husband says it isn't bad. I personally think you shouldn't have to pay a monthly charge just to play a game. They already charged over $50 to get the game from the store...best buy, etc. I just think it is ridiculous personally. However, the decision is purely up to you. If you like the game and think it is worth it, then go for it. If not, then cancel it. My husband and I pay for it every three months so it ends up being around $47 every three months, just a suggestion.

I believe that is an over priced game ive played it for three months but then stopped becuase of the 15 dollars per month charge to continue playing it. It is a great game but if there was no charge to play it im sure millions of more people would be playing it daily.

I wouldnt say it's overpriced since the game's grapchics, maintenance and the number of players would really add up to the cost. I just wish they wouldn't increase their monthly fee.

i honestly believe that it is outrageous but the other people i believe 6 million doent care so if they can get 15 dollars a person per month they are ok with making all that money a month they make about 90 million dollars a month WOW!!!!!!

Depends on how much you play. But even if you're playing just a couple hours a weeks, say 10 hours a month, well that's less than the cost of going to the movies with a friend, and more hours of entertainment. I think it's worth it.

Well, I feel it has excellent entertainment value. I do not feel it is over priced. In terms of "value," when it comes to entertainment, I would presume one is speaking in terms of how one spends disposal income. How folks spend their spare cash is a clear indication of what they "value." So what one person considers "valuable" in terms of entertainment may be considered a waste of monetary resources by another.
