What does it mean to "shoot the wind"?

i'd never heard of that expression before. I'd always heard "shoot the breeze" which means just idle chit chat, catching up with someone you hadn't seen in a while.

I've never heard it called that, but I actually like the phrase. Makes farting sound almost 'breezie'. Ha!

I don't know what you were referring to when you wrote "shoot the wind", but what I think it means when someone is just sitting around with their friends talking and having a good time. Others say they are just shooting the breeze, lol
