Is Christmas too materialistic?

Is every holiday? birthday? Can we take the giving out of the holiday season? Is this causing our children to be self-centered brats?

I LOVE the giving part of the holiday season. I love to buy gifts for everyone.
Our children are only self-centered brats if we raise them that way. They can learn to appreciate the things they have, and be greatful for anything they receive.

If the season is about giving, why then is a very popular purchase big screen TV's at this time of year? Certainly, people are not buying tv's as a gift. No no they are purchasing it for themselves.
