... or beat up an innocent defenseless old man to death if God asked you to? And don't give me that crap of "god wouldn't ask me to do that." Just use a little bit of your imagination and pretend this would happen. This is a purely hypothetical situation.
This is a yes or no answer. I really would like to know how much you're willing to compromise for your love to god.

There is no way under any Circumstances I would do this. That is one of the main reasons there are so many messed up adults in this world is due to being Abused when they were younger. Anyone who thinks it was God telling them to do something like this needs to be examined by a Shrink. God is here to Save and protect, not to cause harm on us.

Ggggreat question....and of course God has done this. He asked Abraham to kill his son ( surely worse that mere molestation or killing an old man ). I would say, however, no. I would have (self) doubt that it was actually God asking me to do this as there is only ever been one recorded incident of Him asking someone to do something like this. He promised He would not make any more tests of faith on this Earth. On the other hand there are thousands of records of insame people killing because they believed God told them too. I would just have to throw myself on his mercy in the afterlife and ask him to take the sin into consideration with all the others. I'd thank him for gving me free will and the ability to rationalise and apologise for getting it wrong on this occassion.

God asked Abraham to kill his son, however He never let Abraham actually go through with it. It was intended for Abraham and Isaac both to show their total obededience. In the Bible story when Isaac is being prepared for the sacrifice he asks where is the lamb but he does not argue as Abraham prepares him. They never doubted God in this matter.

God just not would not He cannot command that since those things are against reason and God cannot command things against reason for that would be against His nature.

I have no belief in a God other than me, so no. I wouldn't command myself to do something like that.

God is in you and in me. So I subscribe to lackingstyle's view. I don't believe in a god either, nor do I disbelieve. But I do believe in myself. Like the gnostics said, you are your own god.

I won't do that. If I can get my hands on such god, i'll make him swear he would make such offers to anyone else........love for god come definitely after love for humanity.......

I'm sorry, but God wouldn't ask me to do that. If I thought God was asking me to do something like that, I would know that it was not God speaking to me, but rather Satin instead. Not the answer you are looking for, I know, but that's the answer non-the-less.

I love this question!
Would I? well doesn't it seem everyone wants tou to believe in God but in this day and age if someone does something that they truly say God told them to do then they are CRAZY!! right?...such a catch 22 situation, but anyone who believes it is their God telling them to do something I think then they will be touched to the core of existence and will do what it is the voice says regardless of consequences.

Its funny. I can bet everyone who responds here would say they would never do it, but truth is, there are lots of people out there who are committing this and worse things in the name of their so-called god.
Of course you can't blame them; they are not part of this excellent mylot community.

I couldn't imagine even thinking about doing something like that. I have no imagination when it comes to hurting the innocent.

no, never. This is against human ethics. and believe me no god will give this kind of absurd command.
