Do you think hes' guarding them?

The butcher birds have been trying to attack my new finches, I got home from shopping this morning & found my baby guarding them

I hate butcher birds, ever since they killed two of my finches dragging them through the cage and ripping their little bodies apart I have always chased or thrown things at them even if they aren't going after my birds!
