Maybe a joke books will do if you are a funny person or puzzle book.

I enjoy chicken soup books, they make you feel fuzzy and warm. I also enjoy word search books! Good luck I hope you get something that you will enjoy!

You could just ask for a gift certificate to your local bookstore or give them specifics of what authors you enjoy or give them a broad subject. My co-worker enjoys reading on History, so I got a book on famous speaches and a gift card to go with it.

that really depends on your personal preferences. why don't you visit your local bookstore and go through the books you'd like to have? then include them on your list.

Gift vouchers are always good. Perhaps you could ask for a gift voucher to your local book chain. That way they know you'll be choosing something you enjoy, and you will be able to spend some more time choosing a book or books that you're really going to like.
As for other suggestions... how about personal care items like body lotions, or perfume oil? I, personally, like getting scented incenses and scented candles for christmas.
I think it's good you're giving your friends suggestions. It's easier when people do that, because you're confident they're going to like what you give them!

How strange ? Asking for the gift of Choice ? Its some thing too funny to hear ! Gifts are to be acceppted as they are ! You really need not worry if you are getting them in duplicate or in triplicates ! Gift actually coveys the love and affection of the person ! By seleting and expressing your choice for a particular gift is making your friends very much materialistic and you people are running away from the basic idea of exchanging the love, affection and intimacy ! May be I am wrong ? What do you say ?

ya, me too find it strange to have a wish list because i think that it's up to the sender to think of what they want to give as a present. however i do find it cool to be receiving something that you wish for and that it would be easier for the sender to buy the presents too. something like santa clause don't you think? =)

Books, you have to think about which books you don't have that would be really interesting to read. I know it will be hard, but i say pick out a few that would be at the top of your list. a beach towel sounds nice, and as for music, that's always a good choice..

Hey! my suggestion is..its better for you not to give wish list... just put in there..ANYTHING YOU WISH TO GIVE as long as heartily given.. you feel wonderful to receive a surprise gift..mind you... hehehe... its not a matter of gifts but its a matter of heart

It's really hard to give you some advice in this topic because I don't know you..
What genre of books do you like best? I may list some books I like of that genre after I know that.
And if you want to add other things on the list, just ask yourself a few questions like
1. What is a great movie you don't own as dvd yet?
2. What are your hobbies? Can somebody give you something for them?
3. Is there a special candy you like a lot/ you haven't dared to try out yet? You can ask for chocolate with chili flavour as a present for example.
4. Do you like a certain perfume or other beauty product?
5. Is there maybe some kind of game you are interessted in?
6. Is your room lacking some nice decoration?
I can't think of anything more at the moment (I'm a bit ill..). If you still need advice, I'd love to help you out!=)

As for books, anything by Nora Roberts is a good bet. She's my favorite author, and I love to read also. Where I used to work, we each wrote 3 items down on piece of note paper with our name at the top, then each person drew one of the names. That way we each got something we actually wanted. I always liked that idea.

Just ask for whatever you like, but be sure not to ask for anything too expensive. If you like books why don't you suggest a couple titles?

This is a silly topic. i dont think you should really worry about what kind of gift to ask for. your friends know you, and will know what to get you! anyways you shouldnt know what your going to get before you open it!
well since i dont know you i cant give great suggestions but here it goes:
If you want a beach towel because you plan on going to the beach, you should ask for all sorts of beach stuff, ie; sunblock, swim suit, sun glasses, hotel reservations, etc.
If you want books, you have to go into more detail, like what genre and such. if you just give them that, they should be able to pick out a decent book.

chiyosan,
why don't you list your favorite stores and suggest everyone get gift cards for your favorite store. They have gift cards for almost everything, books, coffee, cookies, music, toys, electronics, fast food places, restaurants, candy, You name it they have a gift card. It cuts down on refunds and exchanges. You could fill a basket with several different cards. My family and friends love getting the cards, it shows you were listening to what I said I liked but still let me choose. It also made it easier for those you had no clue what to get.

i think gift certificate will do for major shopping malls. at least then you can decide what you really want to have for yourself
