I have tried many distros which include Red hat, mandrake, xandros, linspire, freespire, pclinux, suse etc. From all distros i tested Suse is the best. The advantage of suse over other distros is that it provides a centralized system management using its Yast Tool. You can configure any part of the system using Yast. Another feature is a vast collection of latest software available for install. My recommended linux for newbies is Suse Linux from my experience. The latest version of suse is opensuse 10.2 which is available for free download at http://en.opensuse.org/Download. A list of various review of opensuse 10.2 is available at http://en.opensuse.org/In_the_Press.
