Your High School Reunion. Did you go? Was it what you Expected?

The only reunion I was able to attend was a reunion for everyone who ever played in our high school band. It was fun, but it took place just 3 years after graduation. I missed my 10th year reunion by just 3 days. I was in the area 3 days after it happened. I wasn't aware that the reunion was scheduled and I had moved, so the reunion committe was not able to find me. For my (gulp) 20th reunion, I was all set to go and then became very ill and had to cancel my trip. For those of you that were able to attend your high school reunions, how was it? Was it all you expected?

2008 will be my 20 year reunion. I didn't go to any of the others and I really don't plan on going to this one either. There is honestly no one there I want to see or catch up with. I grew up in a small town and people just don't really profress there, they just get older and more closeminded.

I grew up in a city of about 40,000 people so my graduating class was around 800 or so. I can't imagine what it's like to grow up in a small town and graduate with a very small class size.

I never attended a highschool reunion, and I'm not even certain if my old highschool has had them. I've moved around so much, and lost touch with people from those days that I don't think I would hear about it or receive an invitation.

All you'd need to do is get in touch with the reunion committee chair or register with a place like classmates.com and you'll be notified of upcoming reunions.

I haven't been to any. I didn't want to go to my 5 year one. It was right after me and my husband and our newborn daughter moved back with my parents. I wasn't in the mood to go after having a baby. My 10 year reunion was last fall. We moved that summer so I was 500 miles away so I didn't go, lol. I really didn't want to. I doubt the kids I hung out with were there. They didn't strike me as the kind that would jump to go to a reunion.

I know what you mean about the distance. I would have had to fly 3,000 miles to go to mine. One of my classmates is in Colorado now and she is claustrophobic so she didn't want to fly out there for it either.

You should sign up with one of the reunion websites. Just reading all the information on there is a lot of fun. Not everyone posts on there, though. It will also keep you informed of upcoming reunions.

I went to my 10 year one in August. I found a lot of people had not changed. I had a huge class that was only together for our last year so there were a lot of people I had no clue who were. I was 5 months pregnant. I did enjoy myself though. I got to see people I had known for years but had not seen in 10 years. We had dinner & a DJ. I am not sure if we are going to have another one in 5 or 10 years. I can't say at this point whether I would really care to return or not.

I'm sure reunions are a lot different when you have a class that you went through all 4 years of high school with. Perhaps that's why you didn't have such a great time.

I was a bit sad because I missed my 10 year reunion like you by only days. It was scheduled for the last Saturday in August 2003 and we flew overseas for our 3 year tour in Japan just 2 days before. I honestly was looking forward to it, but then my friends went and said that it wasn't anything major. Snobs were still snobs, jocks were stil jocks, ect. You'd think after 10 years they'd grown up some. I'm not sure where I'll be in 2013, but if I can get all my friends together, I'll probably go, just to show face.

Oh my gosh, you missed your reunion too. I haven't even been able to get a hold of anyone who went so I can ask questions about what happened at my 20th. I would really like to know. I understand that the snobs will still be snobs, etc. but that's to be expected. Some people never change.

My 5 yrs reunion blew big time but our 10 yr reunion rocked and I had one hell of a good time. Our 15 yr reunion is coming up here next year and I am hoping it to be as good as the 10 yr one.

That's great! I'm glad to hear you had a good time at the 10-year. I know what you mean about the 5-year. It's too early for a reunion at that point anyway. Wow, I wonder if our school had a 15-year? They probably did seeing as how they had a 5-year. Have fun at your 15-year reunion next year!

! - books
sometimes life itself offers a reunion .. when you unexpectedly meet some of your high school friends, and I can tell how amazing life can be!! people who were never expected to fulfil any success,or who used to be losers during the school days, can be the ones on the top now! with the highest income, and a social rank!! this taught me that life needs more skills than just a degree, or a high GPA!!

Oh, definitely! You never know what people will make of themselves. Sometimes you have to hit bottom before you head to the top.

Did you have fun? I would have loved to have seen some of my old teachers again. Especially my history teacher. He taught us about the Civil War and I ended up moving to a place where there are a lot of battlefields and History is much more interesting to me now.

I think college reunions are a bit different, it's the high school ones that are supposed to be the awesomely fun ones. I didn't go to a 4-year college so I won't have that reunion opportunity.

That's neat! Glad to hear you had a good time. My brother went to high school with the guys from Blink 182 and I think he said Travis brought Shanna Moakler to the reunion with him.

They'll probably hold a 20-year reunion. Make sure you get in touch with the reunion coordinator and keep your address updated with them so that you'll be notified when it's time.

I've not had a reunion, unless you count the fancy dinner prom thing when you leave. I never went to that though as I didn't enjoy school and took the offer of a holiday break from my mum and dad up instead :)

Calender - calender of 2013
I actually never made it to my first reunion, nobody bothered to tell me and a alot of my high school friends that it was even happening. When I graduated there was a few classmates that were better than the rest of us, they didn't think we were good enough for there society, these are the same ones that had the doings with the reunion, mind you there was about 75% of the clas not there and really ticked off, so we decided that the next reunion in 2013 we are doing it.

I did go to my 5 year reunion and it was kinda of a waste for me, so I didn't go to my 10 year reunion and it was held in a park about 500 feet from my house. But then, I am an anti-social fool.

Bummer that the 5-year reunion didn't go so well. I don't even know why they have 5-year reunions. It's still too close to graduation time and no one has really established themselves yet by that point. Most are probably just finishing up college and joining the workforce at that time.

See, that's the whole thing. I was really excited about going and imagined all the people I would see and get to catch up with, and all the fun we would have. But then I reigned myself in and told myself not to get too excited about it because it might not be anything like I imagined and then I would be let down. I ended up getting sick and not being able to go at all, so I will never know.

By you won't miss it do you mean that you're definitely going to attend, or do you mean that it won't be any fun and you wouldn't be missing anything by not going?
