I started a discussion about giving a gift of food for Christmas, and I was surprised by how many people mentioned they like fruitcake! I mean, SOMEbody has to, right? Otherwise there wouldn't be so darn many of them. So here is your chance to say if you like fruitcakes or not, and please, tell me what it is you do or don't like about them. Recipes welcome as well!

I have never tried it so i don't know if I like it. I just looked at it and thought I didn't like it. I don't like fruit or nuts very much. Now give me a chocolate cake and I'll be happy.lol.

Yes, I'm one of those who love fruitcake. My favorite is the Claxton fruitcake. Here's how their site describes it: "Sun-ripened California raisins, delicious pineapple, crunchy Georgia pecans, plump juicy cherries, freshly shelled walnuts and almonds, tangy lemon and orange peel....blended into a rich pound-cake batter.....baked to a golden brown." That makes me want a slice right now.
I've never made one myself...it's always been easier to just buy one.

I actually made a white fruitcake today! No nuts, just brandy-soaked cherries and cranberries in a light, soft dough. I like white fruitcakes, but not storebought ones crammed full of everything. White fruitcake is so much lighter and fluffier. It's an old family recipe that my mother gave me and it's going to become a holiday tradition, I think!

I have never liked fruit cake ever in my life. We get one every year but i dont think that anyone really eats it. If it was up to me. I would just stop the fruitcake traditon. Rum cake too.
