Do you prefer cloth or dispoable diapers? I do both here at the house. I use cloth in the house (but i only have 3 so far..) and I just wash them every day and reuse them the next day. I def want disposables when i leave the house because i dont want to be hauling around wet and dirty diapers until i get home again to wash them! I want to just toss it away! I plan on getting more cloth for around the house

I have never thought of using cloth because not many people do anymore. When my sister who is now 21 was a baby we used cloth and the had a service to come pick them up and clean them. I am all about trying to raise my baby on a budget so I would love to try cloth however how do you wash them? I am assuming in the washing machine. However I am sure you scrap anything extra out of there first right? Sorry don't mean to be gross just wondering how it works. I am sure I would not be allowed tyecnicly to clean them here in my apartment building because they will not even let us clean dog bedding in there. Of course there is not one watching. Anyway if I got about 10 would I be able to clean them every other day or would that get gross..lol.. sorry so many questions. I am thinking what would be cheaper disposable diapears or a load of laundry a day.. $1.25 to wash.. $1.25 to dry.. plus do you put other clothing in with them?

It cost $1.25 to wash and $1.25 to dry. We have a laundry room in our apartment building but we share. They do not allow you to was dog blankets so I assue they would not like cloth diapers but I am still considering it I think that is such a great thing to do.

I did use cloth diapers with my oldest when he was a newborn and for the first little bit but my post partem was REALLY bad, my ex wasnt much help with our son and it just didnt work out too well for me because of those two reasons so I switched to disposable...

We're using disposable but switching to cloth. After reading and researching.. I think cloth is better.

I tried to use cloth diapers but I hardly get any sunlight into my apartment's drying area. Dryer doesn't kill germs. Sunlight does. Thus I switched to disposable diapers for both my kids. I knew I wasn't helping the environment so I tried to toilet-train them as early as possible.

I use disposables. I think the whole concept of cloth diapers is gross. I don't want to wash it out. I'd rather just throw it all away and be done with it.

I've used disposables for all three of my kids, simply for the convenience. But you definately make a great point about the cost effectiveness of using cloth diapers. I would say use the cloth if you are happy with them, and simply bring a large ziplock bag with you when you go out, so that you can store the dirty ones until you get home. You're changing the baby in a restroom anyway and will be able to rinse out the diaper then, right? And with the bag, everything in the diaper bag stays dry. Good topic.

My son is 5m old and I am currently switching him to cloth .. I still use disposables when we go out for a couple hours at a time but I bought a couple cloth diapers then i just started making them ... I can make about 10 for what I would pay for one if I bought it.. so to me it's worth it .. I would like to eventually switch him all the way to cloth but I dont know when I'll get the nerve to do it.. im sure by spring I will... not so much to carry like there is in the winter with the blankets, coats , hats, in the summer just need a onesie, and that' about it as far as clothes in the diaper bag..

Cloth is anytime better since it prevents babies from getting pamper rash.. and when they babies get pamper rash.. its terrible.. one can imagine the pain that the baby is going through.
I use pampers for my baby - at nite time and when she is travelling.. i use it at nite for her since she can have a good sleep and we too can sleep well.. coz if the nappy turns wet.. one of us has to wake up to change nappy so all are disturbed her.. baby too.. hence best is to use pampers at nite.

I much prefer cloth, I havent used a sposie (err...my baby hasnt!) in 18 months!
We just use either a cottonbabies OS insert in a fuzzi bunz (which i wish we didnt for moral issues, but I only have them cause i got them for cheap lol) or these really nice all in ones called blessed bottomz for going out. I agree, carrying around wet ones whilst being out ist exactly fun, though, LOL! I do have a I think bottle bag? from walmart, its a small one, like 1/3 the size of a diaper bag, that I ws using as a wetbag since i got it before my son was born, its got a waterproof inner, and zips up, so only stunk when I left diapers in there too long, or there was a super stinky one in there and you stuck your nose up to it, LOL!!
Id definitely get more cloth! What kind do you have so far? do you like them??

I like the disposable, it is just easier, maybe not cheaper, but I hate having to wash them out.

I used disposables with my first one but I am going to try to use cloth with the second one. If it goes well I would prefer cloth to save the money of buy diapers every other week!

I've been using cloth diapers for almost two years and love it! My daughter was allergic to the awful chemicals in disposables so I had to switch. It is so much easier for me to wash diapers than it is to worry about having them, buying them, etc etc.
Plus, I've spent under 300 bucks in 2 years on diapers. How many 'sposie parents can say that??
