Ebay and Paypal Buyer Protection

eBay is a great place to find bargains. If you run into an unscrupulous seller then you will need to take action. Paypal protects up to 6 weeks from your purchase date. So if your item has not been received say in 5 weeks, start a Paypal action. This may be difficult for you to do because say, for instance, the Seller has emailed you with all sorts of excuses, but by commencing an action you start protecting yourself. I have had to commence four Paypal disputes and each and every time Paypal got my money back including the Shipping and Handling Fees. One time I went past the 6 weeks and as ebay protects the buyer up to 8 weeks, I went through the ebay dispute process and ultimately got my money back. Overall, though, I recommend starting an action with Paypal.

I never had to use buyer protection before. How does Paypal know that you never received the product? What if the seller says he or she delivered it how can paypal tell it was never delivered?

Well it's up to the seller to get the goods to the buyer, and if buyer says the goods have not been received, then it's up to the seller to show Paypal a delivery confirmation of some time. Now some sellers argue that the buyer did not purchase insurance, however, the buyer really does not need to purchase insurance. It is up to the seller to get the package to the buyer. Most, I would say 99.9% of buyers are honest, however, that percentile moves down when we're talking about sellers. The dispute that is started with Paypal, has on-line responses between the buyer and seller that are recorded and Paypal can view. I found quite often that the unscrupulous sellers I dealt with do themselves in during these on-line text messages. In other words, they somehow incriminated themselves through their words. It appears if you want to be dishonest and get away with it, you'd better get your story straight - LOL!

I agree that sellers are much more dishonest then the buyers however if you mail somthing out usps and don't pay for conformation there is no tracking of your package availible. This is why when i sell on ebay I always ship priority mail and get a tracking number. Also when I buy i always ask if they plan on using a tracking number if not i don't bid on the item. i find it much easier doing it this way so that i can prove or disprove if an item was shipped or not.
