I am a black guy and I don't understand why people are attacking this falg so much.I think that it really is just a symbol of Heritage and not hate or Racism.Would do you all think?Join in.

I'm a white female Yankee and I have nothing against flying the Confederate Flag and agree that it is just a symbol of heritage. I sometimes wonder why it still flies in the South...it would only remind them of defeat and not glory. There are still those who believe that "the South will rise again" and perhaps that is the reason why Southerners cling to the past with what seems to be a vengence. I never connected it to racism although the abolition of slavery is a racial (as opposed to rascist) issue. Good discussion.

I'll tell you I may be a black gy but I love that rebel flag.I think it's beautiful and I guess that's why I have a crap-load of them.Don't let any black power nin-com-poop tell you that it's racist and that itrepresents slavery.What people fail to realize is that the American flag represnets slavery much more that they realize.If the U.S. was fighting to end slavery during the Civil War then why were they still holding to their own slaves during this particular war? Someone tell me that.
