Why continue to stay in Afghanistan?

I read in the papers today (Metro, UK) that the Talibans has started asking their fighters to target foreign helpers (in short, the UN people who are helping out in food aids and education in that country) Since Afghanistan is (indirectly) ruled by the Talibans, it makes me wonder what is UN doing staying there to help out anymore? Isn't it pure suicide? If the Talibans want to cut Afghanistan out from the world, why not jsut let them be? It reminds me of the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia in the 70s.. the wolrd left them alone to isolation. Why are they not doing the same with Afghanistan now?..

Well, they have manipulated and misinterpreted their religion. The opportunist leaders seemed to be using religion to misguide their ppl. However, there are still women and children, victims of war that requires all the help they can get... perhaps that's why they need to be there... if they are not there to help, who will?
