President Hugo Chavez

I just want to know what is the impression that President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez made on people that is not in Venezuela. People get the wrong impression anout Chavez, since the only thing he does is to s.... in the US goverment, and shows a wrong image of Venezuelan people. You see+ in Venezuela we don't want war whit US or any other country, but our leader sends this message everyday, and people outside Venezuela tend to think that this is fine. What do you have to say about this? Are you agree with this frontal attack to US?

Hugo Chavez is a very evil man. He is despicable and I know he is trying to gather up suppport to go against the US in some way. Any man who comes to our country and calls the US President a devil deserves anything he gets. Unfortunately, there are a lot of Democrats who seem to like him. I'll be putting them on a boat to Venezuela as soons as I can.

I think maybe he spends too much time bashing the U.S. He talks as if they U.S. is going to invade, but I don't think there's any chance of that happening. I've heard that some people in his country complain that there are a lot of people there who should be getting more from their government, instead of giving cheap or free heating oil to poor people in the U.S. I agree with that, plenty of poor people in Venez; just seems like a public relations stunt or something. Criticizing the U.S. at the UN, he went overboard, saying not just Bush was the devil but that he could still smell the sulfur, etc. I think he would have benefited himself and his country more if he'd been a little more restrained in what he said.

Hugo Chavez needs to shut his fat mouth, especially when bashing the US which I am proud to live in. I think he is ridiculous and full of himself but times will change that and hopefully soon.

I dont mind him, he's not good, but he's done far less harm than Bush. Not only that, he's the only Mercosur leader who hasnt broken a single promise towards Brazil. And US wont attack Venezuela, its barely surviving Iraq, and still has Iran to take care of, and US has lost too much business with South America to the EU

Um. About Hugo. Where do I begin? First, let me start out by saying that every country gets the government it deserves. In your country, the wealthy and the political ruling class made a mess of democracy, ignored the needs of the poor, and basically allowed Mr. Chavez to be elected, even though he had tried to overthrow the government of Carlos Andres Perez in 1992 and has made no secret that he wants to lead Venezuela into a socialist and anti-American bloc that includes Cuba. I know that most Venezuelans do not want war with the United States or with anyone, for that matter. But, at the same time, they keep on re-electing a man who says that September 11 was actually a plot by President Bush, calls Fidel Castro a friend, asked people to pray for the souls of the 9/11 hijackers, and calls the President of the U.S. "el diablo." In addition, he keeps on buying Russian rifles and other weapons and tells his nation that "el imperio" is going to invade and steal the oil.

I am an American citizen but I am on the side of Hugo Chavez. I think the president of the United States made false accusiations against Chaves. I think they did this to have an excuse not to accept help from Chaves when he offered to send oil to the united states at a cheap resonable price. The president of the united states and other politicians all have interest in oil companies so they dont want anyone cutting into the big profits they are making from the u.s. citizens. The only way to keep Chaves from ruining things for them was to convince everyone that he was a criminal or connected to criminal activities.

PROOF. Not, Oh, I heard someone said or even worse Chavez claims this. There is absolutely no proof this ever happened. I listen to the news all night and am on news sites all day online. Not a one has reported anything other than Chavez alleges that Bush is trying to kill him. That is a darn sight different than saying Bush did try it. If you have reliable, credible proof of these statements, provide them.

It is not just he stupid, unconstructive comments about the US. He actually said that oil workers who did not support his presidency should be fired. That is not freedom. That is not a true democracy where one can vote for who one wants and still work for a government owned company. He has jailed opposition leaders, he has banned anti-Chavez demonstrations. That is not freedom, that is not democracy. Also, what has he really done for the poor people of Venezuela. How much of the oil revenues does the average person really get? Nope, he is just like all the others, more for the wealthy while the poor get the shaft.

He speaks too much, but it is only that. Words. His main interest is staying in power. He will change Venezuela Law to allow infinite reelections for him. He is a populist, and speaks a lot, says a lot, but he is not an idiot, his bashing on USA is just to have an "enemy" and create a distraction from his own internal problems. If USA stop buying oil from Venezuela, the country will broke, they depend on USA money, and the money is bad managed, as seems to be the rule here in south america, be it Brazil, Bolivia, with the exception (it seems) of Chile, here it doesn´t matter if the government is form the right or left, all are corrupt, bad managers.

He bashes the U.S because the U.S government did plot to kill him, and send someone over to kill him, but this plan failed. Now, I do not defend this person either. He is a totalitarian leader in disguise, heck he is not even a true liberal as he claism to be, since he supports free markets, among other capitalistic customs. I'm a liberal and I trult detest him and I can intuit he will bring his country into totalitarian distress and turmoil

Oh, come on. The US government might have looked the other way during the 2002 coup in Venezuela, but it did not plot to kill Chavez or send any hit teams to Caracas to "take him out." And Pat Robertson's stupid comments about saying that ol' Hugo should be whacked aside, I doubt any sane American official or civic leader wants to sponsor any plot of that nature. For the record, I'm no admirer of President Bush, but he's not the devil.
