Now I know there's not one day you wake up and say "gee, I'm old", but what constitutes age? My grandpa still plays 18 holes of golf every few days, and he's 74. I have friends that get tired when I play golf with them. I thought I was getting old when I stopped skateboarding and snowboarding atleast to get better at it... I used to try new tricks, fall alot, and bounce right back up. Now I fall and I stay down, and don't really try new difficult tricks...
Maybe age is defined by achievements, I really haven't accomplished much since graduating, but I'm working on it! I know I'm young, but doen't everyone feel old?

Okay, for me old isn't so much a feeling as an attitude.I'm 51 and a grandmother, but I don't feel old.I've always had various aches and pains, and true some hurt a little more but overall I don't feel any different than I did at 21.I don't look a whole lot different either, thank God for good genes. But mostly I think it's attitude.I refuse to be old.Seriously,I think if you start to think of yourself as old, then you will be.Think young,be young.

You sound a lot like my grandpa, he is very active and says he feels old... On the other hand many people his age are in nursing homes or just sit around all the time... Funny you should mention genes, I'm asian and I've always looked five years younger than I am, but I still feel old sometimes lol...

Yeah...I know what you mean...I am in my late thirties..but sometimes I feel older...and just don't have the energy I used to have....Maybe it is just trying to stay young in your head..and staying active...I guess that helps...I hope I am still active in my seventies....lol.

That's the thing is the same activities tire me out more than they used too, maybe I'm working too much and have less time to be active....

i don't feel old...yet. i still do the same things i used to do, exercise and dance the same, laugh the same. the only things that had changed are my tastes like of movies, the group i go with (mostly business now), yet lifestyle is pretty much the same (low-key). the best reminder of my age, aside from technology, is my son who's grown a lot taller than me :)

I feel OLD a lot. I am only 24 but I found a grey hair the other day (well, like 2 weeks ago) and it drove me insane, I had to dye my hair and get rid of it, I was terrified. I feel tired a lot and I know I don't have as much energy as when I was younger, I used to be able to stay up all night, no problem, now 10:00 or 11:00 p.m. rolls around and I'm exhausted.

Yeah, I'm only 25, and I feel like I'm gettiong old at times... When I go out and party I don't recover as fast from the booze... I seem to be more tired from work than I was with school, and school was harder in my mind...

I've started feeling old after my c-section, it's like after that I'm not able to be very physical at all, and I love to exercise and play sports, it's just been really difficult since the surgery, it's only been about seventeen months but I thought I'd be back to normal, who know's maybe it's taking a while to get back to myself but there are times I do feel old physically, but never mentally.

I think you might be the first response that understood my post! I physically am getting older and I'm not liking it one bit! It's the frame of mind that bothers me, that I wont be able to do things that were sooo much fun to me...

I recently heard a comedian the other night that put into words greatly how you know you're getting old. He was walking down the street when he tripped on the sidewalk.
Nobody laughed at him! He said he then realized he was old when you fall down and people's first reaction is one of concern. It was funny but puts it into a nutshell I think.
BTW, my sons skateboard and sometimes at the park they convince me to get on and try a ramp or trick. When I fall, as I almost always do, it takes a while to get back up. And I still hurt the next day. I'm ot old, but I'm getting there.

I never felt old until one day I visited a place where i used to go dancing and looking for chicks...
It had been converted into a bar and restaurant so I decided to go in and have a drink and remenice for a while...
I started a talking to the bartender, a really gorgeous but young lady about the days when used to burn up the dance floor and had gained almost rock-star status!
The young lady, asked me my name and when I told her she said, "My mom used to dance with you!" "Wow!"
This young lady was about 22, so I knew that I had put on another 10 years!
Dang! :)

To me age is a fram of mind. You can be 21 and be old but on the other hand you can be 80 and still be very young. Age means nothing. When you stop living you get old.

Ha, ha, ha, reading from the threads here, looks like everyone is so concerned with getting old. Old age is only a number and is only in the mind. One should always think young, act young and pretend to play young. (Note I said "pretend")
If you are just in you 20's, you will be considered by older people as just being in the womb of your mom. You are still unborn to this real world. When you reach 30, you are about to get born and experience world outside the womb.
Then there is the saying that "life begins at forty" - why? Because that is the time that you are faced with the realities of this world you were born in. You start savouring the fruits of your labor, the family you created and the future that is ahead of you as a seniour citizen.
So why worry about being old if you are below 40? Enjoy life, get involved and contribute to the society you belong to and then wait for your real world when you start life at 40! Thereon, it will be a roller coaster ride but it will be exhilirating! Cheers!

Thaks, I really am not old, but my body is starting to hint that I am! I wish that there was a good way to test out a 40 year olds body then go back to mine so I can truly feel young again!

today's generation is getting older earlier than their age....it is all bcoz of d hardwork dat we do......n no physical exercise. ealrlier also not much of physical exercise was done but still d people were fit bcoz they dont have dat much load earlier..........so to feel young just put up fixed schedule in ur life wid an hour or half a hr exercise daily n b sincere wid it, everything wil b fine afterwards.

I'm 70 and I'm still going strong. To me "old age" is a state of mind.....if you feel old your are old, but if you feel young you are young. I am definitely the latter. Tho I have a few minor aches and pains I forget about them and concentrate on other things....like football/soccer, myLot, good TV shows that have a good plot and exciting ending, gathering at the local café with all my friends (the majority younger that I), and listening to good music. There are not enough hours in the day/night for me to do all the things I love to do. The only drawback is that it makes time go by faster and the end starts creeping up on you like a tornado. But life goes on. My secret for those who are dreading "old age" is.....don't think about the future concentrate on the present.

I dont think I'll ever consider myself old really...I'm just far too young at heart for that ya know...I mean sure I have physical troubles that I didnt have 20 yrs ago or even 8 yrs ago for that matter and life definately isnt as carefree as when I was younger I mean i have kids of my own to think about, bills to pay, a house to keep etc etc but even so....I'll never grow old LOL I'll be in my 90s and still acting like a goofy 14 yr old ;-)

That's true, I don't think my personality has changed from when I was in fourth grade... Maybe that's the key to success!

My father is like your grandpa, he is retired and him and his wife travel all over, go dancing, hiking, horseback riding, staying out late and sleeping in. Maybe that is why they feel so young! I feel my age at times, physcially, but mentally I dont really feel my age. Society seems to have a lot of bearing on whether we are young or not. Its individuality, maybe we will feel younger when we retire and dont have to work anymore!

I'm jealous of my grandpa, because he's always happy! I want to have that feeling... It's like he lives everyday to be happy, and take advantage of what's important!

I don't know the last time I went all out I broke my wrist trying to lipslide a 10 stair rail... The thing with skateboarding is when you get to a certain point you have to go big or it's just not that fun!
