My daughter (12) and I were at the gas station tonight. Inside the store, we saw candy cigarettes. She said, "Mom, that's a bad example for kids."
They've been around for years, and I used to eat them when I was a small.
Do you think they set a bad example for kids? Should they be taken off the market?
If you can't see the picture, please enlarge it. Some may not have heard of them in other countries.

In a way, yes, but in a way, no. I would rather my children have those, than the real thing is how I see it.

they might, but i wouldn't take them too seriously, i used to buy these as a kid, and now as as adult i am completely disgusted by smoking, and woudl never even attempt to do it

then it is bad also to children.

I actually think they are, why you ask? Because I have a child that pretends to smoke now with them, they are learning that smoking is cool by having this candy, which is going to lead to them thinking it is cool to smoke for real when they are older!

I used to eat them and don't smoke - never have and don't intend to either. Looking at the picture I can see why people are saying there a bad example as even the packaging looks like a cigrette packet would. Over here there called 'Candy Sticks' and are normally in a small colourful packet with Tom and Jerry or some other cartoon character on so they weren't as bad. I think there fine, but don't think the packaging in the image you provided is helping...

Me and my brothers use to eat them when we were younger. I smoke but my brothers dont. I guess it all depends on what your around when you get older. I never thought when eatting those candies Gee I wish this was a real one. you justh ave to explain to your kids that they are just candy and the real ones are bad and you shouldnt do it. with or without the candy if your child grows up and is exposed to it then they will do it regardless unless you teach them other wise. even giving your child all the dangers of smoking doesnt mean they wont try it or do it. so i'm undecided on whether it should be taken off.

absolutley, I think that ciggarettes and candy ciggartes should be took of the market completly, I know that they sell really well but people could do without them, there's no point buying a pack of ciggarettes and a lighter just to make your life fall apart, what do you get out of it? cancer.

If it does not have to never smoke close to the children. This and pure irresponsibility!
