My friends daughter was playing in a supervised gym activity at school and accidentally pushed another child into the gym wall where he broke his tooth. The school called her and assured her that it was an accident however the parents of the injured child called her demanding $1200 for a broken tooth and repair... She apologized profusely but that wasn't good enough and they said they would sue her and take her to court! Can you believe the sue happy people in this world today??!! Other than moral liability is she obligated to pay for the tooth. Does the school have any liability in this. My friend is a beautiful woman and would offer to help pay but she is a single mom of three girls and struggles to make it as it is...Wow people are truly amazing.

Technically your friend can retailiate back to the school for giving out her phone number. it is illegal to do that with out permission. I'd let her know to at least get some free advice from a laywer or go to thelaw.com and ask your question there and mention the school giving her phone number out.

I think the school/placement is liable, after all they have insurance for these kind of things. In all honesty, let them take her to court, surely any common sense would side with your friend, and demand court costs for her to be repaid. Although sadly it is alot of hassle and unneeded stress for your friend.
