Should marijuana be legal?

I know this topic has been done to death but I am very curious as to what people think. I don't want yes or no answers, I want deep thought out answers.
I think marijuana should be legalized, except for the fact that it would be more expensive. The government could make money off of it. There would be less crime becuase of less arrests due to possession of marijuana and paraphalia (sp). Less things would be illegal, so it would show as less crime. Also pot really doesn't do anything that bad to you. Nobody ever gets high and beats their wife or becomes abusive. If it was legal we could make laws to regulate it. Only a certain age and older could have it and it would be illegal to drive high. What are your opinions on the matter?

I think it should be legalized. You make it legal one you can control it far better then it would be controled now. Add to that it does have many medicinal purposes. Some of which has been well documented and shown to be better for people then the artificial medications the companies come up with.
Also what some fail to see is if you make it illegal many won't want to do it anymore. You take the fun away from them. They aren't the rebel anymore. They are just another member of society then and that is no fun.

Thank you for your comment. You are very insightful. I agree wholeheartedly, many wouldn't smoke any more because that is some of the fun and it can be very beneficial. And it could be controlled, which is a good thing. Thanks for sharing :)

My mind went to pot years ago !To much money is being made to have pot legalized!The government is already making money on
pot!So many people would be without jobs and the prison;s would only be half full, the courts would have to layoff works and treatment centers have to close!

I don't think is it good to legalize marijuna just to get money to government. there are lot of other things which will follow next. First ask is marajuna good for health. i am totally against it legaliztion.

Although i have been known to indulge in said 'dirty' pleasure I still do not think it should be legal. The illegalness of it is half the fun of it, not to mention no taxes. Don't think the government wouldn't tax it and make it expensive to boot! I do think it should be legal for percription though.

The fact that the illegalness is half the fun would also cut down on said "dirty" pleasure. It would no longer be taboo. Also it's a good thing that the government could tax it, at least for the government it would also lower crime rates, because people with possession wouldn't be arrested.
