hey.... i am 25 year male. Right from my chidhood days (after joining in junior college) i very much wanted to smoke. I feel that i gives a sense of command and manly looks. But it's for my mom i am resisting it still. Shall i go for smoking and if at all, can i quit after sometimes? Suggest me and tell me about your view on this....

Don't even think about smoking the smelly things. I started smoking when I was thirty - just a couple each day. I quit, and then I started again. I am now addicted and smoke twenty every day. Now if you think that is cool, let me tell you I got asthma at age 35 which has now developed into COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and there is no cure for it. Do you think it will look manly when you are gasping for breath and you have to take your medication in public because you suddenly find you cannot walk? Think about it.

You can tell it like it is better than most. So sorry about your health. I have many people in my family who smoke, and are always sick. I am glad that I never started.

well i think you shouldn't start because you have no idea how hard it is to quit. besides, a vice like smoking costs you a lot of money that could be used for more important things. looking manly doesn't mean you have to smoke, come on, that's a very backwards point of view. there are many smokers out there who are wishing that they never got started.

I cannot understand why you would "plan" on starting smoking, but when you start like any addiction it is not so easy to quit! But of course the choice is entirely yours, no one can tell you to or not, and if it is because it gives you "manly" looks, say that to yourself if and when you got emphasema!

You are 25 years of old and I think you are mature enough for smoking. So start smoking, but don't smoke limitlessly.

Not only is it bad for your health, but also for those around you. The smell lingers in your hair & clothes. I personally think kissing someone who smokes is just gross too. I do not think more of anyone who smokes whether it be a man or woman.

As a former smoker I would not suggest starting smoking if you have not done so. It is not only an addiction that is hard to quit but it also causes many health problems to your self and those around the second hand smoke. I am currently trying to get my husband to quit smoking and it has been hard.

I was 18 when I started smoking, I thought it was cool too, I wanted to fit in. I smoked for 10 years, wasted endless dollars because I couldn't quit. I smelled and coughed and will probably have health issues in my senior years because of my stupidity. Don't start, it tastes BAD, and it's REALLY hard to quit.

you want to start smoking so you will look cool? Are you sure you're not 13?
That is the most ridiculous reason to start something that is so obviously harming to yourself and people around you.
People smoking don't look cool, and they certainly don't smell cool.

OMG! Smoking does NOT give a sense of command and it is SO not manly. It's disgusting and oh so stupid. I've watched both of my grandparents die painful deaths due to the effects of smoking. DON'T start. This is a stupid question.

Hey, other people have a hard time to quit and you want to start it. Don't be a fool, there's nothing to gain with smoking except bad breath and poor health. Trust me, I've been smoking for the past 17 years and it is hard for me to quit. I've tried for several times. It last only from a week to less than a month. Don't start it. Live a healthy life. Don't make the same mistake like I did.

No problem starting smoking, but I really have to tell you its really hard to quit when you'll have complications from your lungs. It took me 6 yrs on and off quitting and returning to this habit until it finally went out of my system. Do consider certain things.

This is me personally, but aside from the fact that it is addictive and can potentially kill you (at some point in your life), I don't think it makes you more sexy or manly because you smoke. It's up to you. You're a grown up. If you really want to smoke, certainly you don't need a bunch of people on mylot to dissuade you or persuade you.

Sure no. smoking absolutely not good to our health and may cause many types of cancer, slow our reaction, heart problems, AIDs and many more. wasting money is another issue. Somebody said that they can enjoy by smooking, I am not sure because I never try it but I think there are many other ways to relax instead of smoking.
