Many health professionals are now saying that Irritable Bowel Syndrome is something that most people experience at least once in their lives. Do you suffer from this illness? If so, how do you alleviate the pain and other symptoms that are associated with IBS?

Hi to all mylotters,
How's the feeling of having IBS? i don't know what I have right now.. I have pain on my left side. The pain is like a burning pain. I have lots of gas, always bloated and always constipated. I'm not sure if it's IBS. Can you tell me please if these symptoms are signs of having IBS?

Yeap I'm a sufferer - My GP told me that the very word Syndromeis used by the medical profession when they don't really have a clue!
To alleviate the pain for me there is nothing that really works, since my diagnosis I have been on several types of medication (at one stage I was taking more than 10 pills a day), admitted to hospital 4 times from it's severity and had to give up my job as attendance was an issue - when you have been up all night in agony suffering with hot sweats, panic attacks vomiting a diahorrea work is the last thing on your mind.
I do find that it's severity is increased around my menstural cycle.

I have been dealing with IBS for about 7 years. I personally don't think that doctors know that much about the treatment of IBS. They just want to give you medication which really doesn't solve the problem. It takes it a lot to get it under control. I have a few websites to check out: http://ibscauses.blogspot.com and helpforibs.com. These might help you.
