Did you like the book or the movies better? I like to read so really enjoyed the set of books. But I thought Megan Follows did a spectacular job in the movies.

I think I enjoyed the books better! I read them all when I was younger. I do agree that Megan Follows was excellent as Anne. My mom and I just love the series. However, I don't believe we watched the last movie, which was when she was married and abroad in Europe..

Yes, that's the one. Did you like it? I have read some reviews on it and it seemed that many were disappointed with the movie. For one, it's not in the book series, but also because of a particular other man?

The other man was Fred - Diana Barry's husband. There also was a child involved. I'm nearly sure that that episode did not go along with the books. The other two followed fairly closely, so I'll not complain.

Well, I haven't watched the movie myself, of course, but I read from some reviews that it seemed Anne was with another man while her husband was in the war. I could be entirely incorrect though!

The first two movies were great and followed the books very well. It appears that the third started with "Anne's House of Dreams" but turned into something different. I they took parts from other books that weren't really about Anne, such as the one about her daughter Rilla. That's why I'm reading them again. For one, in 1915-18, Anne would be in her 40s, I believe. And, she had several children by then.

I meant to say "I think they took parts. . ." Instead of "I they took parts".

Megan Follows- Anne of Green Gables - This is a photo of Megan Follows in "Anne of Green Gables- The Sequal".
Megan Follows did an amazing job playing "Anne" in the show. Generally I like to picture images in my head when I'm considering a situation, so I enjoyed the movies a lot more than the books. I would have to say that I enjoyed "The Sequal" more than the first one and tonight I'm watching "The Continuing Story", so we'll see how that one is.

I loved the movies that I saw. I don't remember which ones except I did see Anne of Avonlea for sure. I wish I had the whole set and could sit down and watch them all from the younger years to her married days. Mom read the series to me when I was a kid. The stories from the book and the movies are sort of blended now. I am not motivated enough to read the series again but would love to see all the movie for sure. Very good memories!

The books and the movie are similar, except for the third? Anne movie which I don't recall being anything like any of the books. Perhaps I should re-read them myself.

The books are SO good, but I am so glad that they made the movies, and that they found such wonderful actors for the roles! Megan Follows is wonderful, and I really enjoyed Colleen Dewhurst and Richard Farnsworth (Matthew and Marilla).

The book is so much better than the movie mainly because the book offers up so much more detail than the movie. So many funny things happen in the book that aren't even discussed in the movie-- such as Anne's linent cake, etc. Also, Anne of Avonlea the book would have made such a better movie than the weird jumble of books used to make the movie, "Anne of Avonlea" So many more exciting things happened to Anne while she was teaching on the Island. Miss Lavendar would have been such an interesting character to see portrayed.

I have to go back and look at the movies. I am reading the entire series right now. You're right, Miss Lavendar is a great character. Also, I think they really changed the order of things in the Avonlea movie.
