Do you think it's safe for a pregnant woman to work as a civilian staff member in a maximum security men's correctional facility?

I think it depends on the area of the prison she is working in. If she works directly with the prisoners, I would't suggest that it is safe, however if she works in an area further from the prisoners, where she deals more with files or something to that effect, I think it is a little safer.
I don't think that the prison, or any other type of facility can really tell someone that they can't work there based on their pregnancy because it would be considered some sort of discrimination no doubt.

I knew someone who did this. She worked as a secretary to the chaplain. However, her office was right in the middle of the prison so while not dealing with them all the time, she did walk right in their midst as she went from place to place throughout the day. She said several of the men showed much concern for her pregnancy and even seemed to live vicariously through her. They asked questions like, "Are you eating enough vegetables?" She only had one experience that was negative and that was when someone in a group of inmates behind her called her "fatty". Pretty minor. It always made me nervous to know she was there, though.

I suppose it depends. Is she a nurse? Is she a corrections officer? I think it'd be very bad on the baby if she is a CO and gets in a scuffle with someone. I wouldn't want to do it.

Is it really safe for any woman to be working at men's prison?
It's her job so it's her call.
